From a young age, I knew I wanted dogs to always be a part of my life! I grew up with a variety of breeds and mixes, but I had always had my heart set on breeding Great Danes and Chihuahuas. After my freshman year of college, I moved to Kansas City and started working at a local independent pet store (the legit, actually cares about animals kind, not the puppy mill supporting kind). We had a pair of dapple miniature dachshund sisters that I fell head over heels for! I wasn’t at a place in my life where I was able to buy either of them, but the dachshund breed had found its place in my life.

I started my research on local dachshund breeders and in 2009, I found my very first dachshund, Georgia, a chocolate and tan dapple long hair.

As I was waiting for Georgia to be old enough to bring home, a trio of dachshund brothers came into my pet store, and in honor of my little Georgia, we named them Dakota, Indiana, and Montana. Little did I know then, but Montana (a red dapple short hair stud muffin of a pup) would also become mine, and we inadvertently became “Stately Dachshunds”.

In 2015, I had just purchased my first home, and decided it was time to begin chasing my childhood dream of owning a Great Dane. I started by dog siting my friend’s dane over Christmas break, and I was HOOKED! I found a local breeder shortly after, and picked out my girl, Hazel, a merle to compliment my dapple dachshund devotion.
